I’m Laia Tinaut, writer and editorial illustrator. I studied Fine Arts at the UPV and a master degree in Graphic design at the Barreira A+D academy.
I have worked with national and international publishers such as Penguin Random House, Harper Collins, Grupo Planeta, Bastei lübbe, Fairyloot or DNX.
«Mal Fario» is my first novel as an author. It was published in April 2024 and reached the third edition in spring 2025.
Art Portfolio
I love to combine the magic of Art Deco with the nostalgia of old comics and the practicality of digital art. I’m always drawing pretty girls and romantic scenes in a warm and cozy atmosphere.
My illustrations feel like an autumnal evening and taste like cinnamon roll.

"mal fario", my first illustrated novel
A look into my creative process
From sketch to full render.
First I make a rough sketch to try composition and proportions. Then I do the clean lineart, where I start adding shadows.
At the painting process, I start adding a flat tone, followed up by color stains that add contrast and volume.
In the last step, I retouch details and improve the hair look, skin and clothes. I also add some lights and effects to create a magic vibe.
